Research Assistant (100%, 01.06.2017 - 31.12.2019); Reference number: IV-245/17

The AV department is looking for a Research Assistant for the ElasTest project. ElasTest is an EU-funded research project that aims to help developers to test and validate Systems in Large, while maintaining compatibility with current Continous Integration practices and tools. The Research Assistant is responsible for supporting the existing team in the implementation and transferring the experience to the larger research framework of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Requirements:

·         University degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

·         Very good knowledge of English.

·         Being a team player.

·         Solid foundations of computer science and scientific work and writing.

·         Programming skills (e.g. Python) and knowledge in networking (e.g. TCP/IP)

·         Foundations in the administration of Linux based machines

·         Solid foundations in software testing.

 

Further, experience in one or more of the following areas are of advantage:

·         Project management and guidance of students.

·         Industrial fieldbuses (e.g. PROFINET) and wireless technologies (e.g. LoRa, NB-IoT, ZigBee).

·         Sensor networks / M2M / IoT and relevant standards (e.g. HTTP, MQTT, AMQP, WebSockets, CoAP) and middleware architectures (e.g. OPC UA or oneM2M).

·         Data modelling (e.g. Semantic Web, Linked Open Data)

·         Programmability of infrastructures / microservices (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, unikernels)

·         Security mechanisms (e.g. SSL, OAuth, OpenID, PKI)

·         Real-time systems (e.g. IEEE TSN, RTLinux)

Research Assistant (100%, 01.06.2017 - 31.07.2020); Reference number: IV-229/17

The AV department is looking for a Research Assistant for the Industrial Communication for Factories (IC4F) project. In particular, IC4F is an Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft (BMWi)-funded innovation project that aims to develop a secure, robust and real-time capable solution for the manufacturing industry.
For this purpose, a corresponding communication reference architecture will be developed for future industry 4.0 applications, using key technologies from the fields of 5G, multi-access edge computing (MEC), cloud computing, virtualization, and industrial monitoring and analytics, and put in practice in various demonstrators among the industrial partners.

The Research Assistant is responsible for supporting the existing team in implementation and transferring the experience to the larger research framework of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Knowledge:

university degree in Computer Science or equivalent, good knowledge of German and English, solid foundations of computer science and scientific work, experience in one or more of the following areas: project management and guidance of students, sensor networks / M2M / IoT and relevant Standards such as OPC UA or OneM2M, industrial fieldbuses and control systems, safety mechanisms, Python programming, extensive network knowledge, interfacedesign, Linux basics, virtualization solutions.

The AV department is looking for a Research Assistant (75%) for the Fed4FIRE+ project. In particular, Fed4FIRE+ is an EU-funded research project that aims to federate Future Internet research testbeds. Fed4FIRE+ develops mechanisms to describe, discover, reserve, allocate, monitor and use heterogeneous resources.
The Research Assistant is responsible for supporting the existing team in the implementation and transferring the experience to the larger research framework of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

 Ihre Aufgaben:

- Mitarbeit bei der Konzeption und dem Design von Netzwerk-komponenten.

- Unterstützung laufender Projekte durch die Erstellung von Designs, Test-Setups (OpenStack) und automatischer Tests im Netzwerkbereich wie auch Material zu deren Präsentation in Form von Folien, Demos, Videos und Animationen.

Ihre Voraussetzungen:

Der Kandidat/die Kandidatin hat idealerweise sehr gute Erfahrungen in Hypervisors, Kommunikationsprotokollen, Routing, 3GPP-Standard und C-Entwicklung. Gute Englischkenntnisse, um technische Texte zu verstehen und zu erstellen, sind ebenfalls Voraussetzung.

The AV department is looking for a Student Assistant for the SoftFIRE project.
The candidate will be involved in the context of the open source project Open Baton, a Network Function Virtualisation Framework.  the main contribution will be in the context of VNF Management and Orchestration.

Requirements:

  •  excellent development skills in any of those programming languages: Go, Java, Python.
  • basic knowledge about Cloud Computing and Vitualisation.
  • basic knowledge of configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef).
  • good English knowledge is mandatory.
