Welcome to AV Chair

Welcome to the Chair "Next Generation Networks (NGN)" (also called Architektur der Vermittlungsknoten - AV in German) lead by Prof Dr. Thomas Magedanz.

This chair - founded in 2004 and funded by the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft - is part of the Institute for Telecommunication Systems within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Technische Universität Berlin.

AV coorperates with the Fraunhofer FOKUS competence center Next Generation Network Infrastructures (NGNI) and the competence center Networking Technologies (NET). NGNI provides the expertise and technologies for implementing innovative, seamless multimedia applications enabled by emerging Open Service Delivery Platforms (SDPs) on top of converging heterogeneous network technologies, such as fixed and mobile telecommunication networks, Next Generation Networks (NGNs), Next Generation Mobile Networks, today´s Internet and the emerging Future Internet (FI).

The most recent R&D area is the open Evolved Packet Core, which will be released in spring 2010. In this area we are looking for Master and PhD students.

Together with Fraunhofer FOKUS, AV will organize the FUSECO Workshop:
Future Seamless Communication (FUSECO): Evolved Packet Core Evolution and Seamless Multimedia Application Platforms
