Date:

Location: Webinar
Prof. Dr. Thomas Magedanz talks about
the power and potential of 5G campus networks and how businesses can
take advantage of new technology and harness this power.
There is no doubt, that 5G is a key technology enabler for
the digital transformation of different industry verticals. Besides
network operator 5G rollouts, so called “campus networks” are
gaining momentum, as they particularly enable a faster deployment of
customized network environments driving innovations in different
application domains. Various network setups and operation models are
possible, depending on enterprise preferences and business strategies
in line with the current trends towards Open RAN movements.
This webinar will provide an overview of the key
architectural principles and technology pillars for 5G campus networks
and on how Fraunhofer FOKUS is helping research organizations and
enterprises around the globe to build up their own private campus
network testbeds for different use cases enabled by its own 5G core
network toolkit - known as “Open 5G Core”.

The Title of the PhD is:
“Access Control for M2M Infrastructures in 5G Networks"
Supervisors have been Prof. Dr. Thomas Magedanz (Technische
Universität Berlin), Prof. Dr. Küpper (Technische Universität
Berlin) und Prof. Dr. Noel Crespi (Telecom SudParis, Frankreich).
The main contribution of the work is the specification of a
Cross-Layer Access Control Framework for M2M Infrastructures using 5G
Core Networks by interconnecting the Management Plane of the M2M
Communication and the one of the Mobile Core Networks for Trustful
Handover of the M2M devices
between Security Domains that are
running on Core Network Slices. The concept and design of the
prototype implementation address common requirements from different
M2M vertical domains and are general enough to be further used in
other ones.
